Questa non me l’aspettavo. La mamma di quel bambino mi ha guardato con aria stranita. Forse si è immaginata chissà cosa.
Che peccato. Io avevo solo scritto un pensiero, nulla di personale. Forse è davvero strano scrivere un messaggio a qualcuno nello stesso aereo, ma a me sembrava la cosa più semplice e sincera da fare.

Questo era il testo:

“Hi, sorry to bother you, I’m Italian and I’m a writer and blogger.
During my flight I spent quite a lot of time writing and I wrote something inspired by your son and your family (nothing personal, of course, but it helped me to do a reflection on how children and adults are differents when it comes to boredom).
I hope this is fine for you and, if you like, I would like you to read it when it will be ready. Hopefully you will like it.
I didn’t know how to say this to you and I thought this message could be the less weird thing I could do, so there it is:)

Forse non avrei dovuto scriverlo. Forse avrei potuto tenermi il pensiero per me. Ma almeno ci ho provato.
E se anche fosse stato un piccolo fallimento, resta comunque un volo speciale.

I didn’t expect this. The mom of that little boy looked at me with a puzzled face. Maybe she imagined something strange.
What a pity. I had only written a thought, nothing personal. Maybe it really is weird to write a message to someone on the same plane, but to me it seemed like the simplest and most honest thing to do.

This was the text:

Maybe I shouldn’t have written it. Maybe I could have kept the thought to myself. But at least I tried.
And even if it was a small failure, it’s still a special flight.
